Piedmont culinary tour
DAY 1 – ARRIVAL
Arrival at Turin Caselle Airport. Transfer to our villa and time to relax. Welcome dinner prepared at the villa.
DAY 2 – CASTAGNOLE DELLE LANZE
In the morning we visit a nearby family-owned winery, which produces high quality local wines, such as Moscato d’Asti, Barbera d’Asti, Dolcetto d’Alba and Langhe Favorita. Tour of the cellars, vineyards and tastings with owner.
Dinner will be a gourmet affair at La Ciau del Tornavento in Treiso, a Michelin-starred restaurant with an outstanding 60,000-bottles wine cellar and an amazing view over the vineyards.
DAY 3 – ALBA
Today we head to Alba. Named “the city of 100 towers”, it is the capital of the Langhe Region, and its historical centre is rich in Roman and Gothic monuments. We’ll take a guided walking tour of the medieval centre and we’ll discover the beautiful squares and pedestrian streets, lined with shops and cafés.
DAY 4 – MOMBARCARO & BRA
AM excursion to the Southern part of the Langhe, an area where a Slow Food presidium cheese is produced: the famous Langhe robiola or tuma. We’ll visit one of the four farmers that still make tuma using only raw milk from Langhe sheep. The owners, a former winemaker and her wife, a former employee of the Slow Food Movement, will show us the sheep and the production process, followed by a tasting and light lunch.
PM discover the Bank of Wine in Pollenzo, hosting the best selection of Italian Wines. Then head to Bra and enjoy a dinner at Boccondino, where the slow food movement was born.
DAY 5 – TORINO
In the morning we head to Torino. The first capital of united Italy is an eclectic city that is a sort of open-air museum combining Baroque palaces, monuments from its glorious past and contemporary architecture. It is truly a dynamic scene that allows various styles to exist in complete harmony.
We’ll visit the largest open air market in Europe, Porta Palazzo Market, which has always been a meeting place of cultures and folklore and authentic soul of the neighbourhood with its variety of products, colours and smells. We will be accompanied by Maria, expert chef, who will help us choose the best products for our kitchen. Lunch at her circular cuisine restaurant Il Giardino.
On our way back, we stop by the Sacra di San Michele, the most amazing Medieval Abbey, located on top of Pirchiriano Mount and symbol of Piedmont. Before reaching our villa, we visit an artisanal brewery for a tasting of different craft beers with the founder of the Company.
DAY 6 – SERRALUNGA D’ALBA & BAROLO
In the morning we head to Serralunga d’Alba to visit the 13th century castle that dominates one of the most beautiful and unaltered villages of the Langhe. We’ll then visit one of the most important and historical Barolo wineries.
Dinner at the Michelin-starred restaurant Guido di Costigliole at the amazing Relais San Maurizio.
DAY 7 – NEIVE
Today we will do a black truffle hunt! If we’re lucky, tonight’s dinner will be enriched by this excellent local Tuber.
DAY 8 – TORINO
We leave our villa and head to Milan Malpensa Airport.
