Elba sailing and trekking

Touch down in the perfect combination of sea and mountain scenery – deep blue Mediterranean Sea shimmers below the Islands of the Tuscan Archipelago National Park, ringed by quaint villages and pristine coves. An adventurous itinerary on a fleet of 32 to 40 feet long sailing boats, whilst taking the chance of daily treks on the different islands. Led by local skippers and trekking guides proud of their heritage, you’ll explore the extraordinary beaches of Elba Island, the scenic cliffs of Capraia Island and wild nature. Sailing across the Archipelago will also allow you to admire the rich fish fauna of the Sanctuary of the Cetaceans.

DAY 1 – ELBA ISLAND

After landing in Pisa, a private motorcoach will take you to Marina di Punta Ala, an exclusive seaside resort right in front of the Tuscan Archipelago. After being welcomed on board, we reach Elba Island on a sunset sail and moor at Portoferraio.

DAY 2 – ELBA ISLAND

The day is dedicated to explore the town of Portoferraio and the Eastern part of the island. Elba is the largest of the Archipelago. We will cover ridges, peaks, trails on the cliffs in the presence of ancient castles and sites of old mines.

DAY 3 – ELBA ISLAND

In the morning we sail west and visit the coast up to Marciana Marina. From here, we climb Mount Capanne, the highest peak of the island. The trek crosses a chestnut forest in the kingdom of mouflons, medieval ruins and the typical shepherd huts, before getting to the top, from where a breathtaking view of the whole Archipelago, Corsica and Tuscany can be enjoyed.

DAY 4 – CAPRAIA ISLAND

Today the destination is Capraia island. Some 20 miles away from Elba, Capraia is named the “wild” island as a result of a volcanic eruption. Deep cliffs, rocks of beautiful colours and striking chromatic contrasts are visible. The territory is wild, totally covered by Mediterranean bush, with just one small town.

DAY 5 – CAPRAIA ISLAND

After a morning hike in the northern part of Capraia, where we visit the ancient penal colony, now abandoned, we sail back to Elba, where we sleep at anchor in the beautiful Fetovaia bay.

DAY 6 – ELBA ISLAND

In the morning we explore the southern part of Elba, with a coastal smooth sail. Later, return to Punta Ala, where a farewell Tuscan dinner is organized at a typical Italian Osteria.

DAY 7

Depart to Pisa by private motorcoach, where we visit the city centre on foot before taking a flight back home.
